The Great India Talent Foundation (GITF) was instituted in 2016. It is an endeavour that focusses on nurturing the natural inclinations of tribal and rural children along with providing quality, mainstream education for holistic development thereby enabling them to secure a better future for themselves, their family, and their community.
GITF is led and governed by the group of trustees of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the world’s largest NGO-run School Meal Programme.
To create a large learning community with features of comprehensive rural development through education and skill development.
The Great India Talent Foundation aspires to educate, enable, and empower children of rural communities in India by setting up multiple educational institutions that will provide them with the options to pursue higher education in their fields of interest.
Empirical data from various countries have shown that development of any country is directly proportional to the upliftment of the overall population. Our progress as a nation directly corresponds with our ability to harness the potential of 68.84 percent of the population that lives in rural areas. If we are to realise this, we need to further inclusive growth, wherein the rural population, especially children and youth, are empowered through training, education, and skill development.
The Great India Talent School (GITS) is the first programme of GITF. It is an initiative to ensure no child is left behind in the pursuit of education for all. GITS is in collaboration with the Government of Tripura, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, donors, and the local community. It is alignment with five Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
